Delhi by Cycle

We have arrived in the capital of India, New Delhi. We thought it would be nice to discover the city in a traditional Dutch way, namely by bicycle. On a beautiful orange bike our bike tour provided by Delhi by Cycle started at 6:30 in Old Delhi.

Fortunately it was not yet top crowds on the street, but it is nevertheless a challenge to cycle through the Indian streets. Our bicycle skills from the Netherlands didn’t matter here. Eyes behind and in front would have been handy because you are constantly trying to avoid people, cows, holes in the road, scooters or carts.

Along the way we received a lot of information from our guide Priyam. He told us about different places, buildings, and a bit of the city’s history. We also visited the spice market and the red fort and saw several temples, mosques and other buildings. Halfway through the tour we took a break to drink delicious chai tea.

After about 3 hours of cycling through the streets of Old Delhi, the tour ended with a well-deserved breakfast at Karim’s. It was a fun and especially challenging tour, but a very nice way to explore the city.

The highlights you will see during the tour are: Delite Cinema, Turkman Gate, Chawri Bazar, Fatehpuri Masjid, Spice Market, Madras Colony, Civil Lines, Old Delhi railway station, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort (buitenkant), Jama Masjid (buitenkant), Karim’s restaurant voor ontbijt, Delite Cinema.
